What is the process for booking a stay at Saugeen Valley?

What is the cost for the short stay program?
The cost for the program is $33.02 per day. This includes nursing care, accommodations, home cooked meals and activities. This amount is due in full at the time of admission. |
Are there restrictions to the length of time I can book?
The maximum stay is up to 30 days at a time to a maximum of 90 days per year. Although in some cases your stay can be extended through the CCAC office - but this is for emergency situations only. |
How many articles of clothing should I bring?
It is difficult to say the exact number of items that you will need. Laundry is returned in 48 hours so one complete outfit per day is more than enough. More importantly the clothing must be easy wear and washable.

Is a deposit required to secure my reservation?
No, there is no deposit required although payment is expected in full upon admission by cheque - we cannot accept credit cards or debit. |
What if I need to change the dates of my stay?
You must contact the CCAC office as soon as possible. They will inform us and if dates are changed it may open up the beds for other individuals in the community who are wishing to use the bed. Your deposit is refundable unless you give less than 48 hours notice to CCAC that you do not intend to take advantage of the program. |
Is there paperwork to go over at the time of admission?
Yes, there is a contract that needs to be signed. You will need to bring a copy of your Power of Attorney papers for personal care and property. We will also need you to sign a DNR fomr in the case of a serious illness. This is something that you should discuss before admission to the home. The contract takes approximately 45 minutes, so it is important that you factor this time for your arrival and departure. |
What time should I arrive and leave the home?
Admission time is 11 a.m. and pick up time is 11:30 a.m. We are flexible with these times but do need to be aware of when you will be arriving and leaving the home. |
What should I do with valuables?
We encourage you to leave all valuables at your home. We cannot take responsibility for cash or other valuables that are left at Saugeen Valley Nursing Center. As a general rule, if you would be upset if it wer to get lost then you should not bring it. If you wish to have some money, a trust account can be set up during the contract signing. The "trust bank account" is open during the regular business hours. |
Can I bring medications from home?
Yes, but all medications must be in their original containers with the directions for their use. We cannot dispense pills from a pill organizer. |
What are the visiting hours at the home?
As our mission statement indicates our key value is "This Is My Home". We recognize that at our own homes we do not have visiting hours posted. In keeping with this key value we do not have visiting hours but do stress that the optimum visiting hours are between 9 am and 8 pm. When visiting our home before or after hours please be mindful of other residents need for privacy. |
Once signed in can a resident leave?
Yes, for daily excursions simply sign the LOA book and let us know when you will be back. |
